Import Duties for Indonesia

Indonesia is an archipelago in Southeast Asia, between the Indian Ocean and the Pacific Ocean. It is also the nation with the largest Muslim population in the world. Because of its emphasis on domestic consumerism, Indonesia has weathered the 2009-2010 ongoing world economic crisis fairly well.
  1. Animals, Live or as Food

    • According to the list of Indonesian customs tariffs as of 2007, live horses incur an import duty of five percent. Purebred cattle and oxen cost nothing, but buffaloes and any "other" live bovine-like animals come with an import duty of five percent. Live pigs won't cost anything, but "other" swine-like animals incur a five-percent duty. Sheep, goats and chickens likewise incur no import duties unless they are fighting animals, in which case they incur five-percent duties.

      Nearly all fish imported as food incur five-percent import duties, except for fried fish or trout, eels or carp, which incur nothing. Bluefin tuna incur a duty of 10 percent, which tilapia costs 15 percent. Most beef cuts incur five-percent import duties, whether fresh or frozen; the same goes for pigs, sheep, goats or lamb, ducks or geese or any other kind of fowl. Livers, offals and other entrails of most meats are charged five percent as well.

    Plants, Fruits, Vegetables and Spices

    • Roses, chrysanthemums, orchids, carnations and other similar flowers incur import duties of 25 percent. Potatoes incur 15 percent, while tomatoes incur 5 percent. Onions are charged nothing, but shallots incur duties of 25 percent. Broccoli, cauliflower, leeks and Brussels sprouts all demand five-percent duties, as do cabbages and lettuce. Carrots get 25-percent duties, while turnips get five percent, as do cucumbers, peas, beans, asparagus, mushrooms and celery. Coconuts incur a five-percent duty, as do almost all nuts. Guavas get five percent, while mangoes are charged 25 percent. Oranges incur a five-percent duty, while clementines and mandarins are charged 25 percent. Grapefruits and grapes get 5 percent, as do melons, apples and pears.

      Pepper, in all forms, demands an import duty of five percent, as do chillies, vanilla and cinnamon, in all forms. Cardamon, coriander, anise, cumin, caraway, fennel, ginger, saffron and turmeric also incur five-percent import duties.

    Grains

    • Meslin, rye and oats incur five-percent import duties. Barley and corn seed cost nothing, while popcorn incurs a 5-percent duty. Rice gets 450 Rp per kilogram. Buckwheat, canary seed and cereals incur a five-percent import duty. Potato flour gets a five-percent duty as well. Corn starch and potato starch cost five percent. Sunflower, cotton, mustard, poppy and other seeds get a five-percent duty as well.
