What is the east coast?

The East Coast of the United States, often simply referred to as the East Coast or the Eastern Seaboard, is a geographic and sociocultural region comprising the most populous coastal states on the Atlantic Ocean coast in the Northeastern, Mid-Atlantic, South Atlantic, and Southeastern regions of the country. While its precise definition varies, it broadly represents a cultural grouping of coastal U.S. states ranging from Maine in New England in the northeast to Florida on the Florida peninsula in the southeast.
