What are the qualifications for Scotland yard?

To become a Detective Constable with Scotland Yard, you must meet the following minimum requirements:

- Be a British citizen, a citizen of the Commonwealth or the European Economic Area (EEA), or a foreign national with no restrictions on your stay in the UK.

- Be aged 18 or over.

- Have GCSEs in English Language and Maths at grade C or above (or equivalent Scottish or Northern Irish qualifications).

- Pass the Metropolitan Police Service recruitment tests and assessment centre.

- Meet the physical and mental fitness standards for the role.

- Have a full UK driving licence (or be able to obtain one within six months of joining).

- Be eligible for Developed Vetting Clearance (including security checks).

In addition to these minimum requirements, candidates are expected to have:

- A genuine interest in police work and a commitment to public service.

- Good communication and interpersonal skills.

- The ability to work effectively as part of a team.

- Problem-solving and analytical skills.
