What is mainland UK?

The mainland of the United Kingdom is the main, contiguous part of the UK's territory, excluding any offshore islands. It consists of:

1. England:

- England forms the largest part of the UK's mainland.

- It borders Wales to the west, Scotland to the north, and has

coastlines facing the Celtic Sea, the English Channel,

the North Sea, and the Strait of Dover.

2. Wales:

- Wales lies to the west of England and is also part of the UK's

mainland.

- It has coastlines along the Irish Sea to the north, the Celtic

Sea to the south, and Bristol Channel to the south-west.

3. Scotland:

- Scotland occupies the northern third of the island on Great

Britain.

- It shares a land border with England to the south and has

coasts along the Atlantic Ocean to the west, the North Sea to

the east, and the North Channel to the south-west.
