Women in the Scottish Parliament: Current Representation

As of the sixth session (2021–present), there are 40 women serving as Members of the Scottish Parliament (MSPs) out of a total of 129 seats. This represents approximately 31% female representation.

While progress has been made since devolution in 1999, gender parity remains a goal. Parties use various mechanisms—such as all-women shortlists and zipping on regional lists—to improve balance.
