When was Bristol built?

The city of Bristol has a long and rich history, dating all the way back to the 11th century. The first written record of Bristol is in a charter from King Edward the Confessor from 1067, which refers to the city as 'Bricstowe'. In the 12th century, Bristol was granted its first charter by King Henry II, allowing the city to hold a market and mint coins. In the following centuries, Bristol would grow and prosper, becoming one of the most important cities in England.
