How did Dracula arrive in England?

In Bram Stoker's novel "Dracula", the vampire Count Dracula arrived in England by ship. He purchased a derelict estate called Carfax Abbey in Whitby and sailed there aboard the Russian schooner Demeter, which was captained by Abraham Van Helsing. The ship ran aground on the shores of Whitby, and Dracula abandoned it, leaving behind crates filled with earth from his Transylvanian homeland.
