Who were the first people to settle in Manchester?

The Brigantes were a British Celtic tribe who inhabited much of what is now Northern England during the Iron Age and Roman Britain. Their territory stretched from County Durham in the north to Derbyshire in the south, and east and west to the North Sea and Pennines respectively.
