Why are there so many Americans living in London?

While there is a sizeable American community in London, it's not as large as you might think. According to estimates from London & Partners, a city government agency for promotion and business, there are roughly 162,500 foreign nationals from the United States residing in London as of 2023. This constitutes about 4% of the total foreign population in the city. While this might seem considerable, London has a diverse multicultural population with much larger foreign communities from other countries, like Poland, India, and Pakistan.
