Do ravens guard the Tower of London?
The belief that ravens must always be present at the Tower of London or the kingdom will fall is a superstition that dates back to the 16th century. According to legend, King Charles II was warned that if the Tower's ravens ever left, the monarchy would fall. To ensure their presence, he decreed that there should always be at least six ravens at the Tower. Today, there are eight ravens living at the Tower of London, and they are cared for by the Ravenmaster.
