Rabat is the capital city of Morocco, just as Washington, D.C. is the capital of the United States.

• Rabat – Political/administrative capital; hosts Parliament, King's official palace (Dar al-Makhzen), foreign embassies, ministries. Population ~580k (metro 1.8M).
• Washington, D.C. – Federal district; White House, Capitol, Supreme Court, embassies. Population ~670k (metro 6.3M).

Note: Morocco's largest city and economic hub is Casablanca (like New York vs. DC), but the political capital is unequivocally Rabat since 1912 (French protectorate) and retained after independence (1956).
