What state is outside the contiguous US and what does mean?

Contiguous means sharing a border. This means that the contiguous US is the part of the US that is all connected, sharing borders with Canada and Mexico. Hawaii is not part of the contiguous US because it is an archipelago in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.
