How Many Congressional Districts (Constituencies) Are in the USA?

The United States House of Representatives comprises 435 voting members, each elected from a single-member congressional district. These 435 districts are apportioned among the 50 states based on population (via the decennial census), with each state guaranteed at least one district.

Non-Voting Delegates

In addition, there are six non-voting delegates representing:

• District of Columbia
• Puerto Rico (Resident Commissioner, 4-year term)
• American Samoa
• Guam
• U.S. Virgin Islands
• Northern Mariana Islands

These delegates can vote in committees and introduce legislation but cannot vote on the House floor.
