New York: A Northeastern U.S. State

New York is a state in the northeastern United States. It borders:

• Pennsylvania, New Jersey (south)
• Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont (east)
• Canada—Quebec and Ontario (north/northwest)

It is the fourth most populous state (19+ million). Its largest city, New York City, is the nation's most populous city and a global cultural/financial hub. The capital is Albany.
