Domino's Petting Farm (pettingfarm.com) is a place for families to learn about farming and farm animals. It's situated on 15 acres of land and offers guests the opportunity to take a hay ride around the grounds to see and pet farm animals. The farm also allows guests to get up close to some "rare breeds" of animals, such as a Highland Cow, Watusi and a Horned Dorset, in addition to traditional animals like pigs, llamas and goats. Domino's Petting Farm is open seven days a week. At the time of publication, admission is $5 for adults and $4.50 for children and senior citizens.
Families can check out exhibits on the Great Lakes, space and light and energy at the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum (aahom.org). And fitting to its name, participation among visitors is encouraged. The four-floor facility features both locally and nationally themed exhibits to help guests explore aspects of science, math and technology. It's open seven days a week and costs $9 for admission. Group rates are also available.
Ann Arbor is home to the University of Michigan, which features the most winning football program in NCAA history. For the sports-loving family, there are few experiences that rival that of taking in a U-M football game on a fall Saturday. Michigan Stadium, also known as "The Big House," holds over 100,000 people to create one of the most raucous atmospheres in college football. According to the University of Michigan, over 35 million fans have watched games in The Big House since its inaugural game in 1927.
Take a trip to the Black Pond Woods to explore the plants and animals of the forest or visit the Critter House to see some of Michigan's wildlife at the Leslie Nature and Science Center (lesliesnc.org). Here, visitors can get in touch with nature. Guests can see snakes, frogs, turtles and rabbits throughout the facility. The center is open 365 days a year and admission is free. The only building on its campus that has designated hours is the Critter House.
