Ohio offers plenty of tourist attractions, regardless of the city you are visiting. The state is rich in history, with plenty of museums to visit. You can tour the Ohio countryside or stick to the cities. You will find something for everyone, including small children and teenagers.
Ohio has two large theme parks to visit. Cedar Point in Sandusky boasts four roller coasters topping 200 feet. It also has an indoor and outdoor water park inside the main park. You can also choose to visit Kings Point in Mason. This park has over 80 rides and was the most visited amusement park in 2009, according to its website. For nine consecutive years it has won Amusement Today's Golden Ticket award for Best Kids Area.
The Toledo Zoo has over 9,000 animals to view and is consistently rated as one of the 10 best zoos for kids by Child magazine. The Cincinnati Zoo was rated the No. 1 local attraction, one of the top national zoos by Zagat surveys and was ranked seventh on the "Top 10 Best Zoos for Kids" by Parents magazine, according to its website. The zoo offers a penguin parade twice a day and offers a 4D theater, train rides and a carousel. The Columbus Zoo is home to more than 8,800 animals. It was named the No. 1 zoo in the United States by "USA Travel Guide," and operates its own conservation program and golf course.
Ohio is home to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is located in Cleveland. It owns many authentic artifacts, as well as temporary exhibits throughout the year. It offers various concerts and movie screenings, as well.
The Pro Football Hall of Fame is located in Canton and was opened in 1963. It preserves documents for the National Football League (NFL) and inducts members who have made significant contributions to the sport. As of January 2011, 253 members have been inducted into the hall.
Hocking Valley Scenic Railway operates between Nelsonville and Logan, stopping at Robbins Crossing. It offers theme train tours such as Santa trains, Easter bunny trains, and Ohio's friendliest train robbery. Rates and hours vary with the season. Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad is based in Peninsula. It is open on weekends year round and Wednesday through Sunday from June to October. It occasionally offers theme trips, such as a wine-tasting tour.
