Calusa Nature Center and Planetarium is on Oritz Avenue, southeast of downtown Fort Myers. The center is a nonprofit organization on a 105-acre site. The attraction combines indoor and outdoor activities appropriate for the entire family. The indoor living museum at the Calusa Nature Center and Planetarium features a variety of animals as well as insects and snakes with placards. Outside, families can hike along the center's three nature trails and stop at the picnic area. The planetarium holds star shows throughout the day. Special-event laser light shows are held on some evenings and combine light displays with popular music.

ArtFest Fort Myers is an annual event that occurs the first weekend of each February throughout the city of Fort Myers. The festival begins on Saturday and lasts through Sunday. Each year, roughly 55,000 people attend the event, which offers a variety of activities for families. Approximately 200 artists attend the ArtFest Fort Myers, displaying their works in a juried show. Vendors are also on hand to sell artwork, jewelry, crafts and food. The event features a special tent, where children have the opportunity to create their own works of art. Local schools and colleges also participate in the event, exhibiting student work and even providing art classes for adults.
ArtFest Fort Myers is free to attend. Some activities may require tickets or carry a fee. Free parking is available for the event in designated areas around the city.
