The borough of Ho-Ho-Kus is in Bergen County, New Jersey, about 27 miles from Manhattan. A bedroom community of about 4,000 people, Ho-Ho-Kus is home to the Hermitage, a national historic landmark built in the mid-1800s. The site of Aaron Burr's marriage, the Hermitage was visited by George Washington during the Revolutionary War.

Kevin Oppici, the chef and proprietor of Kevin's Thyme, was trained at the Culinary Institute of America. His restaurant serves an "American eclectic" menu that features such as entrees as spice-cured double-cut pork chops with maple-whipped sweet-potato puree, herb-crusted braised Chilean sea bass with Israeli cous cous, and marinated grilled skirt steak with garlic whipped potatoes. Kevin's Thyme, which was recognized as having the Best Alfresco Dining in (201) Magazine's 2009 readers' poll, also offers a children's menu.
