What is a river islet?

A river islet is a small island located in a river. It is formed by the deposition of sediment over time, often as a result of changes in the course of the river. River islets can be found in rivers of all sizes, and they can range in size from a few square metres to several hectares. River islets can be important habitats for wildlife, particularly birds and reptiles. They can also provide a safe refuge for fish and other aquatic organisms during floods. River islets can also be important for human activities, such as fishing, recreation, and transportation.
