At least one or two ships from each major cruise line visit ports in Jamaica during voyages, and the best way to find a cruise that docks in one of the Jamaican ports is to visit the destination page of your favorite cruise line's website to choose the cruise ship, length and dates of your cruise. Royal Caribbean, Carnival, Princess and Celebrity cruise lines all depart from various ports in the South and Southeastern United States for Caribbean voyages to Jamaica. Each cruise is semi-all inclusive, which means you pay one price up front for your room, meals, entertainment and basic beverages. Spa services, shore excursions, shopping, alcoholic beverages and soda cost are paid for when purchased.
No matter which cruise line you choose when booking your Jamaican cruise vacation, you experience the same amenities aboard each. Most ships on all cruise lines feature spas, casinos, nightly Vegas-style entertainment and shopping in the atrium. Shopping includes souvenir shops, duty-free jewelry and liquor stores and many ships have art galleries with works for sale. During sea days, the days on which the ship does not dock, cruise directors provide a day of activities for all age groups and interests, which include yoga classes, pool-side games and contests, dance lessons, games and the casino is open all day. All ships features a Lido Deck with a buffet open for each meal and occasional midnight buffets. Coffee shops and ice cream shops are located in many atriums and the main dining rooms serve three meals a day. Room service is 24 hours. Gyms and fitness centers are located on each ship as well as pools, Jacuzzis and some ships offer additional fun features such as water slides, miniature golf, sports decks and rock climbing walls.
All cruise ships offer programs for children so parents can bring the kids with on vacation and still have an hour or two of adult time to spend in the spa, in the casino, or just because the kids want to spend time with people their own age. Children's programs on all cruise lines are operated by certified child caregivers and include facilities just for kids of certain age groups. Movie nights, video game competitions, dance competitions and scavenger hunts are just a few of the activities children participate in while fully supervised during your cruise. The kids can spend all day in the program, or just a few hours at any point during the day. Children's programs do not cost anything.
Falmouth, Ochos Rios and Montego Bay are the three locations in Jamaica where cruise ships dock. Most cruise ships dock at only one or two ports on each cruise; cruise ships do not dock at all three ports in one sailing. Falmouth is a historical site in Jamaica where sugar, molasses, rum and coffee were sent to England in past centuries. When visiting Falmouth, cruise passengers have the opportunity to take bamboo raft rides and explore the Georgian architecture that was famous in the 19th century. Montego Bay and Ochos Rios are the two busiest tourist destinations in Jamaica because both offer tourists plenty of shopping, restaurants, bars and beaches. Luxury resorts line the beaches in both ports. If you're interested in water sports and shore excursions, both offer you the chance to parasail, jet-ski, snorkel, dive, deep sea fish or hop on a catamaran or kayak for a day on the water. Ochos Rios is home of the infamous Dunn's River Falls. Shore excursions are similar on each cruise line and you can book them on-line with your reservation or in person on the main atrium deck of your cruise ship.
