Taking the Q Train from Times Square to 72nd Street & Fifth Avenue

To travel from Times Square–42nd Street to 72nd Street & Fifth Avenue (near Central Park's east side), take the Q train (Broadway Express) uptown.

• Board the Q at Times Square (platform for uptown/Queens-bound trains).
• The Q runs express between 42nd Street and 59th Street, skipping 49th and 57th Streets.
• Ride two stops: 57th Street–7th Avenue (express stop) → 72nd Street–Second Avenue (the station serving 72nd & Fifth).
• Exit at 72nd Street; walk one block west to Fifth Avenue.

Travel time: ~4 minutes on the train. Alternative: The N or R local trains also stop at 57th Street–7th Avenue and 72nd Street but take slightly longer. The 4/5/6 on the Lexington Avenue Line serve 72nd Street directly but require a transfer at 42nd Street–Grand Central.
