Go to the Amtrak website and enter info in the ticket box, including from where and to you are traveling, departure time and tickets needed. You can also call 800-872-7245 for assistance or chat live online with a representative by selecting the "Contact" option from the home page.
Choose a departing train on the following page, if your route includes more than one option. Some trains offer rooms you can purchase in which to sleep overnight -- a useful ability on these overnight trips between Pennsylvania and Florida. Accommodation options vary by train, usually holding between two and four people. Expect a room to significantly increase the cost of your ticket.
Select any groups to which you belong that might entitle you to a discount on the next page. These include AAA and NARP. Students, seniors and military personnel also get discounts.
Enter passenger information, including name and contact info, which is key to receiving delay alerts. Choose whether to get an e-ticket you can print at home or if you will pick up your ticket at the train station.
Submit your payment details on the last page to complete the process. Amtrak will email you a confirmation receipt with details of the trip.
