Justification: Before the adoption of the 25th Amendment in 1967, the Act of succession of 1792 prescribed presidential succession in order of the Vice President, Senate President pro tempore, and Speaker of the House until a new President can be elected according to Section 3 of Article II in the Constitutional Amendment XII.
