Featuring mountains and numerous streams in vast expanses of rural areas, Tennessee is a popular place for camping. Many of its campgrounds have cabins to go along with sites for RVs and tents. Although these cabins are usually found in the northern part of the state, or near the Great Smoky Mountains National park in eastern Tennessee, you can also find them in urban areas such as Nashville.

    • The Clarksville RV Park & Campground is located in a popular part of the state for cabin camping in the mountainous northern section of Tennessee. The cabins are available on both a weekly and daily basis and are on a property with Internet access, camping sites for RV and tents, a dump station and a laundry facility. Recreational facilities include a playground for children, a large pool and a pavilion for picnics and group meetings. LP gas, ice, firewood and RV supplies can all be purchased at an onsite store. The campground also has restrooms and showers as well as various areas to walk your dog.

    Nashville KOA

    • Although it's in a metropolitan area, compared to other parts of the state, Nashville also has campgrounds with cabins in and around its city limits. The Nashville KOA campground has cabins to go along with sites for RV and tents. The cabins come with one or two rooms and there is also a lodge for larger groups. Cable TV is available free of charge at the cabins. Features on the property include a pavilion for meeting and picnics, a swimming pool that is open from early May to the middle of October, a miniature golf course, and a playground for pets. Guests can purchase LP gas and firewood on the grounds, while bikes are available for rent. The front desk can also help arrange tours for seeing the many historical and famous attractions in Nashville. The KOA campground, which has bathrooms and showers, host planned activities and parties. On a Memorial Day, for instance, the KOA hosted a live country music show, a marshmallow roast and a pancake breakfast.

    Cherokee Ridge Camp n Cabins

    • The Big South Fork area in a mountainous part of northeastern Tennessee features many campgrounds with cabins, including the Cherokee Ridge Camp n Cabins. Cherokee Ridge offers campers the option of staying in teepee, tents, RVs and cabins. Its three cabins are located in the woods and are primitive in nature with a rustic appearance and no frills inside. Amenities on the property include a general store that sells groceries, restrooms, showers, a heated pool and a playground for children. For additional recreational enjoyment, guests can take advantage of a fully stocked two-acre fishing pond and hiking trails that wind through 75 wooded areas and offer views of a water fall, gorge and various wildlife. Cherokee Ridge also occasionally holds special events such as cook offs.
