Navigate your web browser to the Switzerland Tourism website, the official website of the Swiss National Tourist Office (see Resources). Click on the "Accommodation" tab at the top of its webpage, then click on "Hotel Directory" listed underneath it, then type "Appenzell" as the search criteria. A list of hotels in and near Appenzell will result. Choose a hotel to be directed to a webpage with its description and accommodation information.
Navigate your web browser to the Appenzell Tourism website (see Resources). The website is written in German, so if necessary use a website translation tool like Google Translate. On the Appenzell Tourism website scroll over "Unterkünfte" for accommodation listings, then choose "Hotels." Look through the pictures and names of hotels. Call the Swiss National Tourist Office to make a reservation by dialing the U.S. exit code 011, then country code 41, then the phone number 800-100-200-30. Make a reservation online on Switzerland Tourism by selecting a hotel from the website, then selecting the dates you wish to stay there. Check the hotel's availability by clicking "Search for available rooms." Select a room you wish to book, then click "Choose." Enter your personal and payment information to secure your reservation.
Make a reservation through the Appenzell Tourism website by scrolling down to the "Hotel Online-Buchnung" section on the website's right-hand sidebar. Select the dates you wish to reserve. Select the number of travelers and the number of rooms you need. Then click "Suchen" to search. You will be directed to a webpage with a list of hotels with rooms available. Click on "Auswahlen" to select the hotel you wish to book. The next webpages will ask for your personal and payment information. Enter it to complete your reservation.
E-mail the hotel directly to make a reservation. Find the hotel's e-mail address on its website. Specify in your letter the number of rooms you would like, the number of people in your party, and the dates you would like to stay. The hotel will reply to your reservation request with their availability. Confirm the request to reserve your room.
Call the hotel directly to arrange booking. Most hotel clerks will answer the phone in German, but many also speak English. Ask, "Sprechen Sie Englisch?" when you speak to the clerk, which is German for, "Do you speak English?" Usually the clerk will answer in the affirmative or connect you with another hotel staff member who can help you.
