Renovo is home each fall to the Flaming Foliage Festival. Since 1949 this festival is held during the second full weekend in October. The mountains themselves seem to change color amidst the trees. Whether you plan a visit to the mountains for the Festival or for hunting season or just a family getaway, Renovo makes the perfect rest stop. While you are here be sure to visit Hyner Run, Hyner View and Kettle Creek State Parks. There are four motels in town.
The Sportsman’s Hotel & Restaurant offers 20 guest rooms with a spectacular mountain view. The restaurant is open 24 hours a day for the convenience of guests. The first and third Fridays of each month the restaurant is popular among the locals for its Land & Sea Buffets. Guests also may visit the Hideout Lounge. The Lounge is also home to private parties and wedding receptions from time to time. They accept every credit card, and rooms run $70.85 per night as of 2011.
Tripp’s Four Seasons Motel is an older motel located on the edge of town. The rooms have satellite TV and wireless Internet. They accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express. A room with a double bed costs $45 a night and a room with three double beds is $55 a night. When called, the staff was helpful and courteous. While the motel does not offer dining on site, the owner did state there is a restaurant in walking distance.
The Keystone Hotel offers several rooms, each having its own private bath. They accept all major cards except American Express. The rooms are located above the bar downstairs and run $39 a night in 2011. When called, the staff stated many of the rooms are long-term rentals to locals or hunters. The staff also referred another hotel if traveling with family or children.
This hotel acquired new owners in 2008. Some of the 48 rooms have private bathrooms while some have shared or communal bathrooms. The building itself is a renovated YMCA hotel. There is a restaurant and a bar located in the building as well. Hotel guests are provided a pass to swim at the YMCA in town. The rooms run between $35 and $60 a night. The hotel accepts Visa, MasterCard and Discover.
If you are looking for a more accommodating hotel and do not mind a bit of a drive, the Comfort Inn in Mill Hall, 23 miles from Renovo, is the answer. This hotel offers 142 rooms. Each room is equipped with cable TV, free wireless high-speed Internet, free local calls, an in-room safe, iron and ironing board, and hair dryer. The hotel also offers an outdoor pool and an exercise room. Rates range from $79.99 to $149.99 a night as of 2011.
