Amite is a small town in the Hammond metropolitan area in southern Louisiana. It is not much of a tourist area but does have plenty to see and do for those who are visiting. Local activities held annually include the Oyster Festival and the Tangipahoa Fair. In Amite, there are a couple of local hotels, but the rest are located nearby in Hammond.
