One of the oldest towns in the United States, founded in 1637, Taunton is a city in Bristol County, Massachusetts, lying 40 miles south of Boston and 25 miles west of Plymouth. Historically, the city's economy was built on silversmithing and shipbuilding; as of the beginning of the 21st century, industry centers around semiconductor, silicon and electronics manufacturing.
