Located right on Bourbon Street in the center of New Orleans, Jackson Square is only six blocks from the Royal Sonesta Hotel. Some of its specialty suites have marble floors, French doors, a spiral staircase leading to the upper level and even dressing rooms. Spa services are available upon request. While only some rooms in the hotel are open to smoking, there are also many outdoor patios where smoking is allowed; smokers should look forward to not having to step too far from their beds to indulge in a cigarette.

There are many hotels that do not allow smoking in New Orleans' French Quarter. Louisiana enacted a statewide ban on smoking in public places in 2007, which extends to restaurants and certain bars. Many hotels have also followed suit. To avoid paying fines for smoking, be sure to double check rules about smoking in courtyards, poolside and other areas of the hotel.
To take advantage of the many historic hotels in the area, guests should try a non-smoking hotel with an outdoor porch or patio that does allow smoking.
