Located in the United Arab Emirates, the city of Dubai has emerged to become one of the world's most prominent hubs of business and tourism. According to Dubai.com, the estimated population of Dubai City is 1.5 million, an increase of over eight-fold since 1975. Among Dubai's many five-star hotels is the Renaissance Dubai Hotel, part of the worldwide Marriott group of hotels.
The Renaissance is located in the Deira section of Dubai, about four miles northwest of Dubai International Airport terminal and about a mile and a half south of the coastal waterways leading into the Persian Gulf. Central to dining and shopping, the hotel is about a 10-minute walk from Deira City Centre, one of Dubai's largest shopping malls.
This hotel has 244 guest rooms and 37 suites on six floors, as well as nearly 20,000 square feet of meeting space. Hotel amenities include a full-service business center; a health club including cardio equipment, free weights, sauna and massage services; an outdoor pool, including a children's swimming area; and on-site shops that include a barber shop, beauty salon, florist, gift shop and car rental stand.
All guest rooms feature luxury cotton bedding with duvets and down comforters, a mini-bar and refrigerator, soundproof windows, marble bathrooms and 24-hour room service. Guest rooms have one king or two queen beds. Club level guest rooms offer additional amenities which include complimentary breakfast, snacks, cocktails and non-alcoholic beverages, and access to the club lounge. Additionally, several one- and two-bedroom suites are available, from junior suites to the Royal Duplex Suite. All suites include club-level amenities.
Two fine dining restaurants, two lounges, a coffee bar and a poolside bar make for six different dining experiences at the Renaissance. Mediterranean fare is offered at Sails, while Spice Island offers seven different types of cuisines for dinner, all-you-can-eat. There is also an American-style sports bar and cigar room and a tiki bar offering cocktails and light Polynesian fare. The Aquarium Lounge is open 24 hours and offers coffee, pastries and sandwiches; and drinks and light fare are also served poolside at Hero's Pool Bar.
