Wendover is a city in Elko County Nevada, with a counterpart in Wendover, Utah. It lies between the eastern border of Nevada and the western edge of the Great Salt Lake Desert. Though the city located in Nevada is often referred to as West Wendover to avoid confusion, it is contigious with Wendover, Utah and is economically tied to Salt Lake City. West Wendover is the more successful of the two, largely due to its thriving gambling industry. Other popular activities include scuba diving at Blue Lake, the Bonneville Salt Lake Flats, and a golf course. Lovers of World War II history may wish to visit the Enola Gay and Boxcar hangar. A variety of lodging is available, including lodging for both travelers and their pets.
