The Northwest region of Florida is typically a beach area. Western Lake, a coastal dune lake, lies between with Fort Walton Beach and Panama City Beach. At 214 acres, Western Lake is one of the largest such lakes in the world, and it has many ecological treasures. Because of environmental concerns, development is limited. Three communities -- Watercolor, Seaside and Grayson Corners offer accommodations. Sites such as VRBO list individual villa rentals in the Western Lake communities.
Sebring Florida is 65 miles south of Disney World, due west of Daytona Beach. Lake Istokpoga, Florida's third largest freshwater lake, is located there. Lake Istokpoga is considered one of the best bass fishing lakes in the U.S. Black crappie, sunfish and blue gill are also in good supply. Springlake Golf Resort is on the shores of the lake and offers two or three bedroom deluxe waterway villas. Each villa has a screened porch and some face the lake. The resort has several golf courses and a pro shop.
Lake Tarpon is on the west coast of Florida about 10 miles west of Tampa. Known as the "Jewel of Pinellas County," Lake Tarpon encompasses 2,500 acres and is rated one of the top 10 bass fishing lakes in Florida. Lake Tarpon Villas, in Palm Harbor, has one- and two-bedroom luxury villas with lake views. These villas are near a boatyard where pontoon boats can be rented. Lake Tarpon Villas amenities include a heated swimming pool and a Jacuzzi in the common area.
