Hotels on the Water in Coupeville, Washington

Coupeville is a town with a population of less than 2,000 (as of the 2010 census) on Whidbey Island in Washington State. It has an area of 1.3 square miles; Puget Sound, Penn Cove to the north and Ebey's Landing National Historical Reserve surround it. Although a small town, it boasts several hotels, inns and bed-and-breakfasts. Only a couple of hotels are actually on the water, but some B&Bs and inns are directly on the shore and other hotels and inns are located only a block away.
  1. Captain Whidbey Inn

    • More than a century old, the Captain Whidbey Inn is a traditional-style inn resting on the shore of Penn Cove. It offer rooms in the log-walled historic inn as well as waterfront cabins and more modern "lagoon rooms." All of the hotel rooms feature feather beds and down comforters and are adorned with artwork and antiques. The cabins have private decks and wood-burning fireplaces. Despite the historic nature of the inn, it provides many modern conveniences including high-speed Internet and Wifi. As of February 2011, rates ran from about $100 for rooms with a garden view (water view rooms cost about $10 more) to $230 for private cabins.

    The Coupeville Inn

    • The Coupeville Inn is in a French Mansard style house right by Puget Sound. The two-floor motel contains seven rooms and also has two-bedroom apartments. All rooms offer either queen or king beds, and breakfast is complimentary as is in-room Wifi. Color TV, refrigerators and telephones are also available. As of February 2011, rates ranged between $105 and $225.

    Cottage on the Cove

    • Cottage on the Cove is a single cottage available for nightly rental. Located directly next to Coupeville's waterfront district, it boasts views of Penn's Cove and is a short walking distance from the town's antique shopping area. The Cottage on the Cove includes a fully equipped kitchen, and a gas barbecue grill is also provided for guest use. Rates run $135 per night year round as of February 2011.

    Kurai Cottage and Lagoon House

    • The Kurai Cottage and Lagoon House are two adjacent houses converted into bed-and-breakfasts on a lagoon. They sit just meters from the shore of Puget Sound and boast panoramic views of the water. Both have large patios, hot tubs and barbecue grills. Kurai Cottage is a custom-designed Japanese cottage and the Lagoon House contains three bedrooms for guests. Rates for February 2011 are between $150 and $180 per night for the Kurai Cottage and $470 to $550 for the Lagoon House.
