The Whispering Pines cottages on Cape San Blas are less than 30 minutes east of Apalachicola, and each of the resort's three cottages is secluded. The cottages are surrounded by pine and palm trees but are within walking distance of swimming activities in St. Joseph Bay. The resort is 10 minutes from the Happy Ours, a Cape San Blas facility that offers canoe and kayak rentals. Off-site dining is available within five minutes of the resort at Port St. Joe, including the Loggerhead Grill and Indian Pass Raw Bar, which offers steamed and raw seafood dishes.
Each of the cottages have a living room, kitchen, screen porch and two bedrooms. The cottages are also elevated from the ground to avoid flooding from the bay. Daily and monthly rates are available. Hiking and bicycling trails are available at Tate's Hell State Forest, which is a 10-minute drive west of the resort; this state park also offers opportunities to spot the American Bald Eagle.
The Turtle Beach Inn in Port St. Joe is a 20-minute drive west of Apalachicola and features the Sand Dollar Cottage on Indian Pass Beach. The cottage is behind the Turtle Beach Inn and provides a beachfront view from its screen porch. This two-bedroom cottage has a living room with DVD player, dining area, fully furnished kitchen and laundry room. During the summer and spring break seasons, a three-night stay is required, while a two-night stay is required for the remainder of the year.
Off-site dining in Port St. Joe is less than 10 minutes from Turtle Beach Inn's cottage. The cottage is also convenient to Port St. Joe's SaltAir Farmer's Market, which occurs every Saturday morning. This market offers fresh produce and is held on the corner of Reid Avenue and Costin Boulevard. Fishing piers and boating slips for canoeing are available at St. Joseph Peninsula State Park. This recreation area also features hiking trails and chances for bird watching.
