The first Rocky Rocco Pizza and Pasta opened in Madison, Wisconsin, on Gilman Street in 1974. They pride themselves on using "hand-pattied" Italian sausage, dough that goes through four different rising processes, and using 100 percent Wisconsin cheese on their pizza and pasta dishes. They keep their menu simple, selling pizza by the slice, in pan pie form, and in pizza rounds of varying sizes. Other menu items include wings, breadsticks, spaghetti, meatballs and a variety of desserts. Rocky Rocco's also delivers to customers in the area. Since it's inception in the mid 70s, it has grown to a regional chain throughout Wisconsin and other mid-west states.

Since 1997, the Glass Nickel Pizza Co. has been serving residents on the west side of Madison and surrounding areas. After their original store opened, several other franchise operations began to pop up throughout the region.
