NY Medicaid Residency Requirements

To qualify for New York State Medicaid, you must be a resident of New York State and provide proof. Acceptable documents (need two or more):

• Valid NYS driver's license or non-driver ID
• NYS voter registration card
• NYS income tax return
• Utility bill (gas, electric, water)
• Lease/rental agreement or mortgage statement
• Property deed in NYS

If these aren't available, alternatives include an employer letter (NY job), school transcript (NY school), or medical bills from NY providers. Children applying must also meet residency rules. Income and asset limits also apply. Check the NYS Department of Health website for current details.
