How is the tree donated to trafalgar square?

Every year the Christmas tree in Trafalgar Square is a gift to the people of Britain from the people of Norway, as a token of gratitude for Britain's support during World War II. The tree is an 80 to 100-foot-tall Norway spruce that is felled in the forests of Norway in mid-November. It is then transported to the UK by sea and installed in the square a week or two before Christmas. The mayor of Oslo and the Lord Mayor of Westminster are typically present at the lighting ceremony.
