  1. Seeing the Four Corners

    • 1

Choose your four corners national park. Although there are many more parks and attractions, let's look at the famous ones. You will want to return to visit again.

    • 2

See the Petrified Forest in Arizona. The park is filled with onetime wood that is now rock. Many have petroglyphs that are sometimes called calendars, marking the summer solstice carved by members of civilizations from long ago.

    • 3

Drive through Bryce Canyon and around Zion National Parks. The majesty of these parks is unequaled.

    • 4

Head east to Canyonlands and Arches National Parks. You can drive through them, but getting out and walking the trails is an experience you will not forget. If you are a photographer, get there at dawn or dusk and capture the light through the angles of the rocks.

    • 5

Visit Colorado and see Mesa Verde National Park. In the canyon you will see where the Pueblo people lived, almost perfectly preserved. You will learn how they lived, how they traveled into and out of the canyon and wonder where they went.

    • 6

Head north to Durango, Colorado. Ride the coal-powered, steam-driven Durango Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad to Silverton, Colorado.
