What kind of clothing did the Indians wear at mission San Juan Capistrano?
Native Americans had woven fabric from yucca and tule (a type of bulrush), and made clothing items such as robes and skirts. Men would typically wear a breechclout, which is a strip of cloth that is wrapped around the waist and passed between the legs. They might also wear a poncho or a shirt made of animal skin. Women would wear a tunic-style dress that reached to the knees, as well as a shawl. Both men and women would decorate their clothes with beads, shells, and feathers.
