Spain's Currency History

From 1869 until 2002, Spain's official currency was the peseta (code: ESP). It was subdivided into 100 céntimos.

On January 1, 1999, the euro was introduced for electronic payments; euro coins and banknotes entered circulation on January 1, 2002, fully replacing the peseta.
