The only lodging option at all within Marengo is the Marengo Cottage, an establishment that from the outside is practically indistinguishable from any other home in town. The twist is that it is no different than any house in the area because the building is rented out by the whole to whichever guests book a reservation. The cottage, which sleeps up to four at a time, includes a bedroom with queen bed, living room with sofa, dining room and a fully equipped kitchen. The building is also wheelchair-accessible, and cribs and other infant furniture are available upon request.
About five miles southeast of the town of Marengo and its famous cave, the Blue River Inn resides in the town of Milltown, Indiana. The lodging is named after the nearby Blue River, which is the main attraction in town, especially for kayakers and canoers. While certainly not a large-scale hotel, the Blue River Inn does provide three separate rooms so that multiple guests can stay at the same time. The standard accommodations include free wireless Internet and a full complimentary breakfast for all guests; however, only one bathroom is shared among all three guest rooms. Both children and pets are welcome at the Blue River Inn.
The town of Leavenworth sits about 12 miles directly south of Marengo and only a few yards from the Ohio River and the Kentucky border. Amazingly enough, the inn dates back to the riverboat era of the late 19th century, and although it has been remodeled and expanded, remains relatively the same locally owned bed and breakfast that it was originally. The inn has more than a dozen uniquely named rooms, including the "Blue Bell" and the "Mayapple," although most of the rooms display the same country home decor. Also on the inn's premises are a small fitness room, a shuffle board court and a backyard observation deck overlooking the grand Ohio River.
For those who prefer the familiarity of the standard roadside motel, the Super 8 in Croydon is only 22 miles southeast of Marengo. This chain motel has locations throughout the country, all featuring roughly the same basic accommodations. This particular Super 8 offers standard rooms with double to king beds, free wireless Internet and cable television, while the "SuperStart" breakfast is complimentary at all locations. A few suites come with in-room whirlpools. There is ample parking as well at this Super 8 location, with room for trucks, RVs and even tour buses.
