To the Cajuns, "Bonnaroo" means "a really good time". To fans of jam bands, folk and alternative music, the word means that and more. It represents comedy, arts and crafts, cinemas, food and a connection to the mind-expanding culture surrounding jam bands. Plan for a day at Bonnaroo carefully-there's so much going on you might miss something!
Find out when the festival begins. Go straight to the source: The Bonnaroo Official Web site. Here you'll find all the official information on the upcoming event. You can find a link in the resources box below.
Figure out the lineup. The lineup of artists won't be official until just before the event begins, but check out the buzz on the internet for some rumors. Prioritize a list of acts and events you simply must see.
Get tickets. Click the tickets link on the Web site to find out when they go on sale. Buy them as soon as possible, as the ticket prices will go up and then eventually sell out!
Provide a mailing address. Tickets will be mailed to you a couple weeks before the show, so provide a permanent mailing address.
Arrange for travel. Whether you are road tripping or flying out, you'll want to figure out how you're going to get to Manchester, Tennessee, ahead of time. If you are bringing an RV, you'll need to get an RV pass when you buy your tickets. Hotel prices and airline tickets only go up the longer you wait, so buy them early.
Get a tent, a good tent. Buy something that will hold up to wind and rain and will be able to accommodate everyone in your group. Test it out in your backyard to be safe and learn how to pitch it.
Buy folding chairs and sun shelter. The tent will heat up quickly during the day and you won't want to sit on the ground. Get a shelter to block the sun and some chairs to take a load off at the campsite.
Get there early. Plan to be in Tennessee and drive up a day or two in advance. You'll want to stake out a good camping spot as well as figure out where everything is and where you want to be. Get settled soon so you can enjoy the shows!
