Princess Cruise Age Requirements

Princess Cruise age requirements are just one of the ways that Princess Cruises ensure that every passenger enjoys a pleasant and safe cruising experience. So while Princess ships feature an unstructured cruise experience where passengers can customize the various dining, entertainment and cabin amenities, in other areas there is a definite structure.
  1. Types of Age Limits

    • Princess Cruise age requirements can be divided into five categories. They are: passenger minimum age, cabin occupancy age limit, age limits for participation in the ship's Kids programs and activities, and limits for drinking and gambling.

    Passengers

    • Most Princess Cruise ships do not allow passengers who are less than six months old. However, some of their more exotic cruise itineraries require that babies must be at least one year old.

    Room Occupancy

    • All cruise lines have a minimum age requirement for cabin occupancy. Princess Cruise age restrictions require that every cabin must be occupied by at least one person who has turned 21 years old.

    Kids Programs

    • There are three separate Princess Kids programs each with their own age restrictions. These programs allow the parents to enjoy onboard and onshore activities, secure in the knowledge that their children are being entertained and even educated in a safe and well-supervised environment.
The first program, Princess Pelicans, is for children aged three to seven. Children from eight to 12 may participate in the Princess Pirateers program. And the Off Limit group provides activities and entertainment for teens, ages 13 to 17.
Each night the Princess Kids program also offers late-night babysitting in the ships' Youth Center. Children, ages three to 12, will be watched and entertained until 10:00 p.m. for free, and then from 10:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., for a minimal fee.

    Alcohol Consumption

    • While a cruise ship is in port it must abide by the laws of the land regarding minimum legal drinking age. However, once a ship leaves port, the minimum age for alcohol consumption is determined by the cruise line. Aboard Princess Cruises the legal drinking age is 21.

    Onboard Gambling

    • Many Princess Cruise ships feature at least one onboard casino. While some cruise lines allow passengers who are 18 years old to play in the onboard casinos, Princess Cruises' casinos have a minimum age requirement which stipulates that passengers must be at least 21 years old to enter one of their casinos.

    Considerations

    • While some may consider the Princess Cruise age restrictions to be in place solely to spoil their fun, others appreciate the logic behind the age limits.
