Cheap Hong Kong Airport Hotels

As one of the world's largest commercial centers, Hong Kong receives thousands of incoming tourists daily at Hong Kong International Airport. The airport is on the western edge of the city, approximately 30 minutes from downtown Hong Kong via the city's rail transit system. The room rates for most hotels in Hong Kong are expensive, as is the case with most major international cities, but a number of the hotels near the airport offer relatively reasonable prices.
  1. Novotel Citygate Hong Kong

    • As of fall 2010, room rates at the Novotel Citygate start at $130 per night. The hotel is on Hong Kong's Lantau Island, a 15-minute drive from Hong Kong Airport. Complimentary transportation to the airport is available from 6 a.m. to 11:45 p.m., at 15-minute intervals, as of fall 2010. The hotel also provides an outdoor swimming pool with umbrella-covered chairs on its sundeck, a fitness center and massages. On-site dining options include Essence, a casual eatery with Asian fusion food and the fine dining establishment Olea, which offers Mediterranean cuisine. Guest rooms offer views of Lantau Island's hills, and some of the rooms have living rooms and whirlpool tubs.

      The hotel is within walking distance of the Tung Chung rail transit station, which makes a trip to downtown Hong Kong in only 30 minutes. An outlet mall is adjacent to the hotel, which offers visitors opportunities for off-site dining and discounted shopping. A possible day trip to Tai O, a fishing village on Lantau Island, is only 20 minutes away via Hong Kong bus transit.

    Silvermine Beach Hotel

    • The Silvermine Beach Hotel is on the south side of Lantau Island, approximately 30 minutes from Hong Kong Airport. Room rates at this hotel begin at $139 per night, as of fall 2010. The hotel's 128 guest rooms offer views of the South China Sea, and two family rooms have sitting areas. Other hotel features include an outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts and a fitness center. Dining is available at the hotel's ground-level Terrace Cafe restaurant, which provides indoor and outdoor dining. Weekly and monthly rates are available.

      The hotel is within walking distance of swimming and boating opportunities in the sea, and guests can sometimes spot Chinese white dolphins off the coast. The Mui Wo ferry pier is a five-minute walk from the hotel; this ferry offers a 30- to 45-minute ride to the pier in downtown Hong Kong. The hotel is also within 20 minutes of hiking and climbing opportunities in the Lantau Island hills, also referred to as Lantau Country Park.

    Royal View Hotel

    • The luxurious Royal View Hotel is less than 30 minutes east of Hong Kong Airport, and it provides complimentary shuttle transportation to and from the airport. As of fall 2010, room rates at this hotel start at $104 per night. Hotel features include a fitness center, an outdoor swimming pool in a courtyard setting and the Spa Royal, which offers massages and body treatments. Guests can enjoy dining at Cafe Lido, an upscale restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. One- and two-bedroom suites are available with living rooms and views of the South China Sea.

      The hotel is 20 minutes from the Disney Hong Kong theme park, which features roller coaster rides, dining options and live music and dancing entertainment. Visitors can participate in hiking and bicycling at Tai Lam Country Park, within 25 minutes of the hotel. This recreation park is also home to the Tai Lum Chung Reservoir, where visitors can hire fishing and boating charters. The shops and restaurants in downtown Hong Kong are less than 20 minutes away, via the Tsing Yi rail transit station, a 5-minute drive from the hotel.
