All-inclusive resorts are less common in North America, but Club Med specializes in this type of vacation. Club Med Sandpiper in Florida is renowned for its kids programs and has the special Club Med ambiance. Club Med Sandpiper isn't a beach resort but is located on the Saint Lucie River about a 30-minute drive from West Palm Beach or two hours from Orlando or Miami. From its website, Club Med Sandpiper provides "facilities and customized programs for the care of children from 4 months to 17 years old," while adults can take advantage of the golf or tennis "Academies" or take part in Aquafitness or sailing classes. The daily rate for Club Med is a little more expensive at about $150 to $200 per person, as of September 2010, but savings on air travel make the total holiday cost comparable with an overseas vacation.
