Cheap Vacations to Sandbridge, Virginia

Sandbridge is the southern end of Virginia Beach. Quieter than the part of Virginia Beach known as the Resort Area, it is a secluded residential community fronted by five miles of unspoiled sand dunes and beaches. Low cost vacation opportunities center around the wetlands, marshes and beaches Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge and False Cape State Park.
  1. False Cape State Park

    • Primitive tent camping is allowed year-round in False Cape State Park. Facililties are limited and subject to weather warnings but the cost, per tent per night, is just $11.The 12 campsites are scattered around four different areas of the park: Barbour Hill Bay, Barbour Hill Ocean, False Cape Landing Bay and False Cape Landing Ocean. Access for overnight campers, on foot or bicycle only, is through the wildlife refuge during daylight hours.Non-potable water is available at all the sites but drinking water is only available in the Barbour Hill section of the park. Campers have to bring their own containers to carry it to the other sites. Campfires are not allowed though campers can use camp stoves.

    North Bay Shore Family Campground

    • North Bay Shore Family Campground, open from May 1 to October 1, has family cabins with basic cooking facilities, beds and bunk beds. A one-room cabin that sleeps four costs $60 per night while a two room cabin for five people costs $75 per night. A minimum two-night stay is required. Guests have to bring their own bed linens and kitchen utensils. The cabins have no bathrooms but restrooms are nearby. Camping, with or without electric, water and sewer hook-ups, is also available.Vacationers can rent boats and canoes by the hour or day. The campground has a swimming pool and freshwater fishing from its own canals. Saltwater fishing as well as surfing and swimming are nearby. Public golf and tennis courts are six miles away.

    North Landing Beach

    • North Landing Beach is a riverfront campground and RV resort. Its cabins, tent and RV sites have views of the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway. Two man-made channels run alongside the campground, accommodating boats up to 28-feet. Kayaks and canoes are available for rent. The resort is located in a quiet area of Sandbridge on a private sand beach 20 miles from the Virginia Beach ocean front.Inexpensive cabin accommodations, available year-round, range from waterside cabins for four with private bathroom and shower, sheets, dishes and kitchen utensils, to more rustic cabins with outside water and shared bathhouse facilities. Rates vary with the seasons but, as an example, a rustic cabin for up to four adults, would cost $49 per night in September.
