Cheap Romantic Getaways in Oregon

If mountains, forests, and ocean come to mind when you think of a getaway in Oregon, then you're already partway done planning your next trip. No matter how much money you spend, or who you take along, getaways in Oregon are often planned and executed based on what there is to do outside.
  1. Breitenbush Hot Springs

    • Soak in the host of tubs warmed by natural hot springs, take a hike and cool off in the nearby river, and delight in the daily wellness classes when you stay at Breitenbush Hot Springs Resort. The intentional community near the town of Detroit, Oregon is a paradise for those looking to relax and live the good life. Couples looking for a little privacy can stay in a cabin heated with hot spring waters; rates through spring of 2011 range from for $69-$115 a night per person. While that might sound steep for a cheap vacation, keep in mind that it includes three delicious meals cooked by the Breitenbush staff, as well as the hot springs and any wellness classes going on during your stay. To go a bit cheaper, pitch your own tent for $54 a night, or bunk with your sweetie in the dorm for $66 a night.

    Sunset Surf - Manzanita

    • There are a lot of places to stay on the Oregon coast, but none quite as sweet as Manzanita. Shh... don't tell... The cozy town tucked next to the Pacific has all you could hope for in a romantic beach getaway -- a long stretch of beach for sunset strolls, a tidy row of delicious choices for restaurants, and an ethos of sustainability throughout. The Sunset Surf Motel, located near both the sun and the surf, offers some of the most affordable rooms in town in their old building -- at $62 a night mid-week, low season in 2010. Amenities like free wi-fi and kitchenettes give you ample reason to stay in for the evening.

    Umpqua Lighthouse yurts

    • While two of you won't need all the room that one of the Oregon State Parks' deluxe yurts provides, you will enjoy the added amenities while you "rough it." The Oregon State Parks Department rents a number of yurts -- some like cabins, some more like tents -- throughout the state, but some of the best are the yurts at the Umpqua Lighthouse State Park. For just $76 a night in 2010, you get a canvas cabin at your disposal, with microwave, fridge, and even television. Deluxe yurts sleep up to 7 people, so if there only two of you, you'll have plenty of room to stretch out. To save more cash, get the rustic yurts the campground offers -- though you won't get a television. Reserve your spot through the Reserve America website.
