Make a wish list before you start your search. Write down where you want to fly to. If you are going on vacation, be flexible about your destination. Write down three or four places you would like to visit; you may not get your first choice. Write down the dates you are able to travel, and make a note of your budget so that you are less likely to overspend. Write down any other requirements, such as direct flights.
Log on to the internet and start searching for the best deals in last minute flights. Going through a website allows you to book at any time of the day or night, and will allow you to take advantage of the latest deals as soon as they become available online.
Visit as many websites as possible (see Resources below) and compare what each site is offering. Some sites are best to find flights leaving in the next few days, while others offer good deals as last minute as three hours before departure. The success of your search will depend greatly on your departure airport and destination.
Have your credit card ready to book your last minute flights as soon as you find what you want. Last minute flights are often cheap flights too, so they get snapped up quickly. Make sure you have your passport by your side when you book, just in case you are asked to provide your passport number on the booking form.
