The Polynesian Cultural Center (PCC) on Oahu is like a living museum. The center is staffed by hundreds of performers from Hawaii, Samoa, Fiji, New Zealand, Easter Island, Tahiti and Tonga. Visitors can experience the unique cultures of all the Polynesian people through shows, dining, a canoe parade and what is considered the best luau in Hawaii. There are also many hands-on activities and plenty of shopping opportunities. The PCC is located on 42 acres on the north shore, less than an hour from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki. The PCC is open Monday through Saturday beginning at 11:45 a.m. as of 2010.

During the winter months there is no better place to see humpback whales than off the coast of Hawaii's Big Island. There are several companies offering whale watching cruises along the Kona and Kohala coast.
Mauna Lani Sea Adventures, located on the north end of the Mauna Lani Resort near Waikoloa takes passengers aboard a 50-foot Polynesian sailing catamaran called "Winona." The spacious boat sets sail for the deep waters off the western shore of the island while the crew talks to the passengers about the coastline, history and more. The captain of the boat takes cues from the crew on whale sightings, which are a regular occurrence from December through April, and steers the boat within safe distances of the massive sea mammals. The boat still gets close enough for a truly up-close encounter with these impressive creatures. The Winona embarks on whale watching tours every day except Saturday and Monday.
