How long is the sunshine out for in Antarctica?

The length of time that the sun is out in Antarctica varies depending on the time of year. During the summer months of November to February, the sun never sets at the South Pole (and other points above the Antarctic Circle). This phenomenon is known as the midnight sun. Conversely, during the winter months of May to July, the sun never rises at the South Pole.

Outside of these extreme winter or summer months, the day length gradually increases or decreases in Antarctica. For example, in March and September, daylight lasts for about twelve hours in Antarctica (varying a few hours more or less, depending on your exact location on the continent.)
